The “Ableism” That Never Was

genderbitch:

I have had it fucking up to here with people taking groups that are misogynist, transphobic, racist, hateful, bigoted, self centered or really unethical and calling them “psychotic”, “crazy” or “insane”.

Shut the fuck up. No seriously, just shut the fuck up. Your ableism is showing. Your psychophobic ableism is slathered all over your words and your self centered, hateful, unethical bullshit directed at your usage of people with mental illness and mental disorders is building a fuck ton of irony in your criticism of whatever group you’re pissed off at.

Just shut the fuck up, bigots.

I know what genderbitch is referring to in this situation, she is referring to her disagreement with the fact that anti-choice people are psychotic. They are adherents to a psychosis that encompasses many areas of the DSM but does not have an umbrella diagnosis, which would likely be called (should it ever enter the DSM) Religious Belief Syndrome. A great number of religious people exhibit evidence of multiple psychiatric diagnoses under the DSM without a causation diagnosis. She refers to anyone that points out facts that she doesn’t like as ableism. When she is proven wrong, she shouts her accusations of ableism like a child.

Firstly, my post was not self-centred. It was a factual statement about others using data from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association. I intend to do a post later on that points out each individual diagnosis that people from the pro-life movement possess. This was not a me thing, it was an accurate observation about the pro-life movement.

Secondly, how is telling the truth hateful or unethical? When I said what I said, I did not mean any offense to disabled people. I was making a truthful statement about the anti-choice movement. Which is one of those things I intend to get into later on in this post. I challenge you to show ONE thing in what I said that was hateful or unethical. I mean, other than calling you out on your libel (which was not hateful at all, again it was stating a fact)

Thirdly, when you throw around the term ableism when people aren’t being ableist - you are diluting the meaning of that word. You are turning a genuine issue into just another word when you apply it to people who are not being ableist. Therefore, you are actually being ableist - by cheapening the term “ableist”.

Finally, she assumes that I am trying to insult people with mental disorders by calling anti-choice protesters psychotic. This is far from true. I call them psychotic because they exhibit behaviours which insinuate that they are not mentally ill. There are many different diagnoses of psychosis in the DSM and some are vastly different from others. To insinuate that there is only one way people are crazy and to lump anti-choice people into it insults not only people who are mentally ill but paints mentally ill people with a very broad brush. Treatment and care for mental illness is varied and different and if we are to get anywhere with helping find causes for some mental illness and researching it - we must discuss openly and honestly about modalities of cure and pursue advancement of the science - without accusations of ableism hindering the work of caring scientists.

p>Honestly, I don’t know why genderbitch snapped, as we have been talking quite friendly for quite a while. I miss those conversations but she wrongfully accused me of ableism. She’s been showing behaviours around that time which obviously shows that she isn’t interested in honest discussions about ableism - she wants to start fights. She tried with Raven Kaldera, a transsexual man who married a transsexual woman - and she called him “a transmisogynistic douchebag” in the below post:

Read this and this and be warned that this shit will probably make you sick and may even trigger you. And then check out this page of an article that mentions this guy and his sexist, transmisogynistic, utterly fucked up, objectifying bullshit.

Raven considers himself an authority on trans…

We all have different cultures and from those cultures comes different vocabularies, among other things. Raven likely sees “trannygirl” as a positive word because of the culture he grew up in and given the fact that he is married to another transsexual woman. I know older gay men that balk at the words queer and faggot, but younger gay men that wear the label queer with pride. I know of women proud to be called dykes and some who cringe at that term. And yes, even I use the term tranny in a closer circle, when I know that the people I’m talking to understand that just because I say it doesn’t mean others are going to be comfortable with it. It seems as though the genderbitch wants to force people into using words from her culture in the way that it dictates. Regardless of intent, if you use the word crazy, or tranny, or trannygirl - she’ll viciously accuse you of transmisogyny and ableism and she’ll have a few of her “talking heads” to agree with these lies.

In the culture in which I choose to live my life, I am an intellectually honest person, unafraid of stating the truth - no matter the cost to my popularity or image. I am also searching and testing the truths I do discover, constantly questioning them. I feel that it is the only way that I can be honest with myself and others. When someone disagrees with me, I don’t call them transmisogynistic, bigoted or anything like that. I look at what they have to say and then if the evidence on it is lacking, I let them know. If they continue to spread those lies when the evidence disproving it is available, I call them on it.
